Work Highlights
- Advised leading hedge fund, Monaco-based SRM, in relation to its dispute with ArcelorMittal concerning market-abuse arising out of Europe's largest merger.
- Successfully represented American Express Bank (now owned by Standard Chartered) in High Court proceedings arising from a performance bond, which formed part of a $130m contract for the supply of electricity in Asia.
- Advised banks and card issuers on their strategy in dealing with bank charge, default charge and PPI claims, as well as the interventions of the Office of Fair Trading.
- Advised a bank on the legal issues and strategy to be pursued to deal with substantial losses suffered on investments in Structured Investment Vehicles.
- Advised a major international retailer on payment systems issues, including payment card operations, and issues arising from contracts involving strategic alliances with other suppliers.
