In the last year we were pleased to welcome a number of talented lawyers to Mishcon de Reya.

Daniel Levy

New Head of Property Litigation
We are delighted to welcome Daniel Levy to Mishcon de Reya as our new Head of Property Litigation. Previously with Lovells and as a partner with Eversheds, Daniel has acted for major clients in a wide range of industries including property, financial services, energy, retail and leisure. A recognised leader in property litigation, he is praised by clients in the Chambers & Partners legal directory for being ‘proactive and switched-on with difficult issues.’ Daniel is highly regarded for his expertise in dealing with difficult negotiations and disputes, often within tight time scales. His expertise encompasses all aspects of contentious property matters and ranges from dilapidations, development disputes, service charge, rent reviews and lease renewals to injunctions to restrain protestors and other commercial disputes.

 
 

Philip Jennings joined the Property Department as an assistant from Midlands firm Wright Hassall. Philip has experience in many aspects of commercial property law, particularly landlord and tenant law. He has acted for a wide range of companies and high net worth individuals on all aspects of their extensive property portfolios.

Mark Levine

Mark Levine joined the Property Department as an Assistant Solicitor in October 2005. Mark has experience of dealing with all aspects of commercial and residential property, including acquisitions and disposals, landlord and tenant work and property related elements of refinancing and other corporate transactions.

 
 

Property assistant Nicola Bishop, who came to us from BLP, advises on all commercial property matters. This includes acquisition and disposal of investment sites, letting and taking leases and management matters. She has particular experience in acquiring and redeveloping commercial sites into mixed-use development schemes.

Vishvas Kanji

Tax Principal Vishvas Kanji joined the Corporate Department in Autumn 2005. Previously with Kilpatrick Stockton, his practice consists of advising on the UK tax law aspects of corporate mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring, capital raising, joint ventures, partnership acquisitions, mergers and restructuring, employee incentivisation schemes and the structuring of commercial and commercial property transactions.

 
 

Corporate partner Kevin McCarthy joined the Firm recently from Ashurst. Kevin has a broad range of corporate experience, including having acted for several high profile clients in the property sector. Kevin’s practice includes private equity, M&A and corporate finance. Since joining, Kevin has been involved in several significant property transactions providing corporate support to our property team.

Sukhi Walia

Sukhi Walia, who joined us from US firm Kilpatrick Stockton, has significant experience in dealing with all aspect of commercial property, including acquisitions and disposals, development, secured lending, lettings (acting for both landlord and tenants) and the commercial property aspects of corporate and project transactions. Sukhi advises a range of individuals, companies and institutions on general property investment matters.

 
 

Karen Milne joined the Department in July as a senior assistant solicitor. She has over seven years’ post qualification experience and has particular expertise in development work, including drafting and negotiating joint venture and collaboration agreements, building licences and strategic land options, as well as the real estate aspects of corporate transactions and landlord and tenant matters. Prior to joining Mishcon, Karen was at CMS Cameron McKenna where she spent over two years working in their Prague office.
