Some of the new recruits to the Firm over
the last year:

Corporate partner Susan Breen specialises
in corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions for private
and publicly traded enterprises. She
has substantial experience in advising
banks, venture capitalists and
borrowers on financing and lending
projects and in recovery situations
on behalf of lenders in the area of
receivership and debt restructuring. |

Nick Davis is a corporate partner
focusing on takeovers, mergers and
acquisitions. He has substantial
experience in negotiating joint
ventures, financings and fundraisings
and is recognised in a number of
sectors including recruitment,
advertising and PR and
e-commerce/technology. |

Belinda Bridgen is a corporate
tax principal with over twenty-five
years experience in domestic and
international corporate tax. She
advises private and public companies
as well as financial institutions, including
banks and funds. Her particular
specialisations include property and
international structuring, mergers and
acquisitions, company restructuring,
financing and private equity funds. |

Senior assistant Karen Tickner joined
the Employment Group. Her practice covers all areas of
contentious and non-contentious
employment law, including wrongful
and unfair dismissal, discrimination
law, TUPE, redundancies,
reorganisations, employment aspects
of mergers, acquisitions, sales and
flotations and High Court litigation. |

Property partner Daniel Lipman joined
us from Berwin Leighton Paisner, having been at that firm for
his entire career. Daniel specialises in
all aspects of commercial property
law with an emphasis on investment
work for quoted and private
property companies, much of which
is tax driven. He also frequently acts
for banks on a variety of property
finance transactions. |

Kathryn Garbett specialises in
commercial litigation with particular
expertise in civil fraud. Kathryn has
considerable experience in all types
of injunctive relief, international asset
tracing, insolvency litigation,
enforcement and ancillary
procedures. She represents high profile
individuals and corporate
clients in both claimant and
defendant led High Court litigation,
as well as in a range of disciplinary
and regulatory investigations. |

Property assistant Jason Kallis
advises on all aspects of landlord and
tenant law for large blue chip retailers
and PLC’s. He has extensive
experience in advising on disputes
relating to service charges, contracts
for the sale of land, rights of way,
contentious and non-contentious
lease renewals, rent reviews,
construction contracts, estate agency
agreements, re-possessions, forfeiture,
vesting orders and dilapidations. |

Corporate assistant Tim Merritt
joined in March 2005 from Berwin
Leighton Paisner where he undertook
most types of general corporate,
finance and property finance work.
Tim has experience of working for
both banks and borrowers often in
international transactions. |

Sarah Albury came from Withers
where she was a senior assistant in
the Private Client Group. Sarah has
extensive experience in advising
both UK and internationally based
clients not only on their roles as
trustees, executors & beneficiaries,
but also on their personal estate
planning. Sarah’s wide-ranging
practice also includes Probate,
Court of Protection and Powers
of Attorney, together with the areas
of tax & trusts. |

Head of Planning and Environmental
Law, Oliver Goodwin, formerly a
senior member of the team advising
on the planning application in
support of London’s Olympic bid at
Eversheds, has extensive experience
in advising on a range of public and
private sector projects, including
international urban regeneration
schemes, major office, retail, leisure
and residential schemes. Oliver is
also currently advising on a European
major inward investment tourism
project of national significance. |

Davina Sofer trained with
Mishcon and has just joined the
Property Department as an
assistant where she is involved in all
aspects of the work it undertakes.
She has a particular interest in
property investment matters and
has experience of working on large scale
property transactions. |
Congratulations!
Property partner, Philip Freedman has
been awarded a CBE in the
Queen’s birthday Honours
List, for services to property
law. Philip, an acknowledged
expert on property law and
a prolific author, recently
chaired the Committee that
produced the Commercial
Lease Code which played a
vital role in staving off the
threat of legislation against
upward only rent reviews.
