Jason Kallis specialises in all types of Construction Litigation. He Brings and defends claims in Adjudication proceedings and has many years of experience of the Technology and Construction Court and of Arbitration actions.
Jason has experience of alternative dispute resolution including Mediation and Expert Determination. He also acts in Property Litigation disputes, concerning, in particular dilapidations claims. He also defends claims made against Contractors by the HSE.
Key Experience and Clients
- Bringing a multi party claim worth £1.6 million against the designers and builders of a Flood Defence Wall
- Representing contractor in arbitration claim for extensions of time, loss and expense and measured works claim
- Obtaining Freezing Injunctions and responding to proceedings brought to freeze client's assets.
- Drafting and advising employers on terms of appointment
- Advising on the determination of building contracts.
- Successfully defending adjudication claims for declarations brought by an Employer who after a roofing structure collapsed
- Recently settled a multi party claim worth £1 million, heard in the Technology and Construction Court, concerning the collapse of a wall in a residential house in Kensington. The matter was settled after mediation, and further litigation, some 3 weeks before the final hearing.
- Jason was the lead lawyer the reported case of Zurich Insurance Company v. Gearcross Limited [2007], heard in the Technology and Construction Court
- Jason was the lead solicitor when he successfully claimed rent arrears amounting to nearly £1million in Edlington Properties Limited v. J. H. Fenner Limited [2006] EWCA Civ 403, a case described by Neuberger LJ as the most important Property Litigation case of 2006.
- Jason acts for UBS and Harmsworth Pension Fund on a number of their Property Litigation matters, and advises Property Investors and Developers on building contracts and their professional appointments.
