Expertise
Philip Freedman specialises in property development and leasehold work for investors, developers and lenders. He also advises the corporate occupiers of a large number of major properties.
Philip is an acknowledged expert on landlord and tenant matters and advises on lease renewals, rent reviews, planning appeals and high value leasehold enfranchisements.
In June 2005, Philip was awarded a CBE for his longstanding services to property law.

- Involved in the creation of the PACT (Professional Arbitration on Court Terms) Scheme and the British Property Federation forms of Short Leases.
- Chair of the Joint Working Group on Commercial Leases. The Group was reconvened at the request of the Secretary of State and the Regeneration Minister and produced the current Commercial Leases Code of Practice. This is intended to introduce more flexibility into the commercial letting market and focuses particularly on key issue such as upwards-only rent reviews. Its effect on the UK property market is being monitored on behalf of the Government.
