Expertise

Henry has extensive contentious trust and probate litigation experience acting on behalf of individuals and charities. His practice also encompasses Court of Protection and mental health work, and he is a member of the Public Trust Office Consultative Forum. He is a Solicitor Advocate and a CEDR accredited mediator, and is Chairman of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS).

Key Experience and Clients

Henry has appeared as an expert on several television programmes, and lectures widely on contentious trust and probate matters.

Acted in the reported case of Re: Ratcliffe (deceased) (sub nom Holmes and Another –v- McMullen and Others) concerning whether non-charitable beneficiaries under the will should receive their bequest subject to inheritance tax and whether the non-charitable beneficiaries’ shares should be grossed up to achieve equality with charitable beneficiaries.
Henry has acted in various complicated trust and probate disputes in the High Court involving many varied issues of law and fact and which involved a substantial measure of alternative dispute resolution.
Acted for several well known charities in relation to trust and post-death disputes.
Acted for high profile charities in mediations, both as mediator and acting on behalf of charities as parties to the mediation.
