David is a general commercial litigator, with experience litigating matters across a variety of industries, legal issues and jurisdictions. David's practice encompasses advice in respect of High Court and arbitral proceedings, with a growing focus on mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
David specialises in contentious financial services matters, advising clients in a range of sectors in respect of claims for mis-selling, commissions and introduction fees, and those with issues arising from negligent investment advice received from financial professionals.
David's practice also includes advising individuals in protecting their FSA approved status, including negotiations with firms during disciplinaries. He also advises individuals and firms with regulatory and/or compliance issues, those on the receiving end of regulatory, compliance or other investigations, and advises on disclosure and notification obligations.
Key Experience and Clients
- Acting for three Defendant companies in defending a c.£1.5million High Court claim for disputed commission, introduction and retainer fees
- Acted for a Defendant recruitment company in defending a c.£1million High Court claim for introduction fees (successfully settled following mediation)
- Acting for an individual in pursuing a High Court claim for c.£700,000 against an IFA and a product provider for negligent advice to transfer out of a final salary occupational pension scheme
- Successfully negotiated the exit of an appointed representative IFA from its network, leading to separate authorisation
